We rehearse on Monday evenings from 7.15pm to 9.15pm at Christchurch, Clarendon Park Road, Leicester LE2 3AH
The choral year is from September to June and the annual subscription for 2023/24 for members is £140, or two installments of £72.50, due September and January.
We do not audition. All we ask is a pleasing singing voice, a good ear for music and enthusiasm and a willingness to try. A reasonable understanding of music notation is desirable.
Let me ask you a question,
What’s calming, therapeutic, imparts a sense of personal and communal well-being, improves mood, provides enjoyment and uniquely combines the physical, the mental, the spiritual and the artistic?
Singing in a choir.
In The City of Leicester Singers, an SATB choir with a strong social commitment, we aim to provide all of the above.
Our repertoire is varied – composers of different nationalities, music sacred and secular, accompanied and unaccompanied, with a variety of languages and a resolve to perform works of living composers. A willingness to learn and give things a try is at least as important as vocal ability. It obviously helps to be able to read music to some degree, but this is not essential.
Come and give us a try!
We will arrange for someone from your section – Bass, Tenor, Alto, or Soprano – to greet you and help you settle.
New members are invited to come for a rehearsal for four weeks before deciding to join.
If you would like to join us, either turn up on a rehearsal night, ask David on 0116 2708577 or leave your personal details on our Contact page
